SKIP AND CINDY HOGAN TENNIS CENTER RENTAL INQUIRY FORM

YEAR OPENED: 2003 (MAJOR RENOVATION: JANUARY 2022)

SPORTS: MEN'S AND WOMEN'S TENNIS

Perched at the west end of the University of San Diego's stunning campus, the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center stands as a testament to Torero tennis excellence and the transformative power of vision and generosity. What began in 2003 as an eight-court facility has evolved into one of the premier collegiate tennis venues in the nation, following a comprehensive $6.5 million renovation unveiled in January 2022.

The renovation brought eight fully resurfaced courts, now known as the Lester T. Vesell Championship Courts, alongside chairback grandstand seating that creates an intimate yet electric atmosphere for fans. But the crown jewel of the project was the program's first-ever clubhouse — a state-of-the-art space featuring locker rooms, a comfortable lounge, and dedicated study areas where student-athletes can balance their pursuit of excellence both on the court and in the classroom. The facility also includes an athletic training room to serve visiting teams, advanced infrastructure for live streaming all home matches, and a video scoreboard that brings a professional feel to every competition.

The renovation was made possible through the extraordinary generosity of Skip and Cindy Hogan, whose commitment to Torero tennis has created a lasting legacy. Court One was dedicated to longtime head coach Sherri Stephens, who has led USD to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances as the longest-tenured women's coach in university history. The facility honors both the past and the future — a fitting tribute to a program built on excellence.

Since the reopening, the Hogan Tennis Center has become a fortress for Torero tennis. The women's program has flourished, advancing to back-to-back NCAA Tournament second rounds in 2024 and 2025, capturing their first WCC Regular Season Championship in 2025, and reaching consecutive WCC Tournament finals. The men's team has been equally dominant, earning a No. 7 national ranking in 2025 and making program history by hosting NCAA Tournament matches at the Hogan Tennis Center for the first time — a milestone that underscored the facility's elite status.

The venue has also cemented its reputation as a premier host site, welcoming NCAA West Regional Championships, West Coast Conference Championships, and numerous USD Invitationals. With sweeping views from the hillside courts and world-class amenities throughout, the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center provides an unmatched home-court advantage for the Toreros.

Whether it's a heated WCC battle, an NCAA Tournament showdown, or a nationally ranked opponent coming to town, the Hogan Tennis Center delivers an experience that honors the legacy of Torero tennis while pointing boldly toward the future. In this corner of America's Most Beautiful Campus, champions are made, and history continues to unfold.
