RS JUNIOR (2017): Started in all 54 games as the team's CF... Hit .290 on the season... Hit one homerun with 24 RBI... Went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI at home against BYU (4/21)...Hit his homer against Portland where he went 1-for-4 (3/17)... Finished the season with 60 hits and 9 doubles... Was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 21st round after the season. RS SOPHOMORE (2016): Missed season due to injury. SOPHOMORE (2015): Played 53 games with 49 starts... hit .321 with 63 hits, 17 doubles, one triple, three homeruns and 40 RBI... helped lead the team to the WCC championship...was named second-team All-WCC...went 2-3 with a double and one RBI against Morehead State (2/15/15)... went 2-4 with two doubles and three RBI against Portland (3/14/15)... went 2-4 with one double and one RBI against Santa Clara (3/21/15)... went 8-13 with three doubles and nine RBI in the series against BYU (3/26-28/15)... went 2-5 with one homerun, one double and two RBI against LMU (5/1/15)... went 2-5 with two RBI against Pepperdine (5/10). FRESHMAN (2014): Played in 13 games with one start... hit .167 with one double and three RBI... went 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI against Northern Kentucky (2/21)... went 1-for-2 with one RBI against UC Riverside (3/25)...earned All-West Coast League honorable mention accolades this summer, while playing for the Kitsap BlueJackets. HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Newbury Park High School...earned three varsity letters in baseball...as a senior, he hit .379 with 13 RBI, four home runs, three triples, six doubles and 23 runs scored en route to an All-Marmonte League selection...as a junior, he hit .342 with 13 RBI, one home run, eight doubles and 17 runs scored en route to an All-CIF Southern Section honor, and he earned the Silver Slugger and Gold Glove team awards, and helped lead his team to the state championship...as a sophomore, he hit .323 with 23 RBI, two home runs, one triple, seven doubles and 15 runs scored...he was tabbed the varsity Rookie of the Year for his team, and earned All-Marmonte League honors as a freshman. PERSONAL: Colton Waltner was born on Aug. 13, 1995 in Thousand Oaks, Calif....was also recruited by Butler, Fresno State, Cal Poly and USC...chose to attend USD because of the baseball facilities, coaching staff and success of the baseball program.
