  •          San Diego fell 1-0 at then-No. 16 Kansas City on Sept. 20 at Durwood Soccer Stadium, playing the final 54 minutes a man down             after a 36th-minute red card.
•          The match was scoreless at halftime, and the Roos did not put a shot on target until the second half. Kansas City's goal came in             the 74th minute.
•          Playing with 10 men after the break, the Toreros outshot Kansas City 9-8 in the second half and 3-2 on target.
•          Shots finished even at 12 apiece, and San Diego held a 4-2 edge in shots on target.
•          Matteo Salcedo put all three of his shots on target, two of them in the final 10 minutes.
•          Tobias Polz took three shots, including an 85th-minute effort that came off the woodwork.
•          San Diego pressed for an equalizer with five shots in the final 10 minutes, three of them on frame.

  •          Saturday marks the fifth all-time meeting between San Diego and Denver and the first as West Coast Conference opponents. The             Toreros are 2-2-0 all-time against the Pioneers.
•          The last meeting came Aug. 28, 2025, at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium, where San Diego rallied from 1-0 and 2-1             deficits for a 3-2 win after a 55-minute lightning delay.
•          Simon Duus Muller converted penalties in the 37th and 56th minutes, the second one the game-winner, and Owen Walz equalized             12 seconds before halftime on assists from Devin Dillon and Godwin Antwi.
•          Three current Toreros marked career firsts in that match: Taj Eagleston made his first collegiate start, Conner Gardenhour made his             collegiate debut with 45 minutes off the bench, and Dillon recorded his first collegiate assist.
•          Denver won the previous meeting, 1-0 in overtime, in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament in Denver. San Diego, making             its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014, played a man down from the 57th minute and held a 6-4 edge in shots on goal.
•          The Pioneers also won the 2015 meeting, 2-1, at a neutral site in Albuquerque, N.M. Torrey DeArmas scored San Diego's goal.
•          San Diego won the first meeting, 6-0, in San Diego on Sept. 27, 1998. Saturday is the first meeting between the teams in San Diego             since.
•          Denver is in its first season in the WCC after 13 seasons in the Summit League, and Saturday is the Pioneers' first conference             match.
  •          Saturday opens San Diego's defense of its WCC crown. The Toreros won a fourth straight title in 2025, the first program in league             history to do so.
•          USD went 25-3-3 in WCC regular-season play across its four title seasons: 6-0-1 in 2022, 5-1-1 in 2023, 7-1-0 in 2024 and 7-1-1 in             2025.
•          Last season's Toreros allowed five goals in nine WCC matches, the fewest in the league, and posted six conference shutouts.
•          The 2026 WCC men's soccer field has nine teams, with Denver joining this season, and each plays an eight-match league schedule.             San Diego hosts Denver, Portland, Santa Clara and Saint Mary's and visits LMU, San Francisco, Pacific and Seattle U.
•          For the first time, the WCC will stage a men's soccer tournament. The top four regular-season finishers meet in single-elimination             semifinals on Nov. 11 and a final on Nov. 14, with the higher seed hosting each match.
•          The tournament champion, not the regular-season champion, now earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
  •          Saturday is San Diego's first home match since Sept. 13 and only its third of the season. Six of the Toreros' first eight matches were             on the road, where they went 3-2-1.
•          USD is 2-0-0 at Torero Stadium in 2026, outscoring Liberty and San Diego State 5-2, and has drawn 2,578 fans over two dates, an             average of 1,289.
•          Saturday's match is the program's Hispanic Heritage Celebration, featuring a USD scarf giveaway.
•          After Saturday, the Toreros play two straight WCC road matches, at LMU on Wednesday, Sept. 30 (1 p.m.) and at San Francisco on             Saturday, Oct. 3 (7 p.m.), before returning home to face Portland on Oct. 10.
  •          San Diego is No. 19 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 released Sept. 22, collecting 48 points. That poll reflects results through             Sept. 20.
•          Top Drawer Soccer has the Toreros 11th in its Top 25 released Sept. 21.
•          The Toreros have appeared in all six coaches polls this season. They started at No. 18 in the preseason edition and climbed to No.             2 on Aug. 25, the highest the program has ever             appeared in that poll.
•          USD reached No. 1 in the Top Drawer Soccer Division I Top 25 on Aug. 24, the first time the program has held the top spot in a             national poll.
•          San Diego's previous best in either poll was No. 3, reached in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 on Nov. 5, 2024, at 12-1-2.
•          San Diego is the only West Coast Conference program ranked in either national poll, and no other WCC team received votes in the             coaches poll.
•          Both of San Diego's losses have come by a 1-0 score on the road against teams now in the top 10 of both polls: Stanford (No. 6             coaches, No. 10 Top Drawer) and Kansas City (No. 8 coaches, No. 4 Top Drawer).
•          Washington, which San Diego beat on opening night, and UC Santa Barbara are receiving votes in the coaches poll.
  •          Since taking over in 2018, head coach Brian Quinn has faced ranked opponents 24 times and is 8-11-5 in those matches.
•          No. 1 Washington remains both the highest-ranked opponent of the Quinn era and his highest-ranked win, ahead of a 2018             meeting with No. 2 Duke that the Toreros dropped.
•          That list of wins also includes No. 6 Washington in 2023, No. 7 Portland in 2022, No. 10 Duke in 2024 and No. 10 Oregon State in             2025.
•          Stanford was the 12th top-10 opponent of the Quinn era and the fourth top-three opponent since 2018.
•          San Diego has already faced the nation's No. 1 team twice this season.
•          Kansas City, No. 16 at kickoff on Sept. 20, was Quinn's 24th ranked opponent and the third of 2026. San Diego is 1-2-0 against             ranked teams this season, with both losses by a 1-0 score.
  •          USD's Aug. 20 win at Washington was the fifth time in program history San Diego has beaten a No. 1-ranked opponent, and the             first under Brian Quinn. The Huskies were the defending national champions.
•          The previous one came Sept. 26, 2014, a 1-0 win over No. 1 UCLA at Torero Stadium in front of a program-record crowd of 4,432.
•          Taj Eagleston opened the scoring in the 11th minute in Seattle, finishing an assist from Steven Ramirez whose own strike had             been cleared off the goal line. Devin Dillon doubled the lead in the 53rd.
•          Lucca Adams went the full 90 and made four saves against 16 Washington shots and 11 corner kicks. The result moved San Diego             to 3-3-2 all time against the Huskies.
  •          Taj Eagleston and Luca Fava swept the West Coast Conference men's soccer weekly honors on Sept. 14, with Eagleston named             Offensive Player of the Week and Fava Defensive Player of the Week after 2-1 wins at UC Irvine and against San Diego State.
•          Eagleston scored the game-winner in both matches, in the 55th minute at UC Irvine and the 34th against San Diego State, and             played all 180 minutes while leading the Toreros with nine shots, four on target.
•          Fava started both wins at wing-back and played 154 minutes, helping San Diego allow just two goals and four shots on target for             the week.
•          Fava finished the week with three shots, one on goal, and an assist. He took the corner that started the move on Iain Wagner's             opener against San Diego State and supplied the cross for Eagleston's winner.
•          Eagleston became the second Torero to earn WCC Offensive Player of the Week honors this season, following Steven Ramirez on             Aug. 24.
  •          Senior forward Steven Ramirez was named the WCC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Aug. 24, 2026.
•          Ramirez had a hand in three of the Toreros' five goals during the 2-0-0 opening week, setting up the opener at Washington before             scoring twice in 91 seconds against Liberty as San Diego rallied for a 3-1 win.
•          The honor is the first conference weekly award of Ramirez's career and the first WCC Offensive Player of the Week award of the             2026 season. He is the first Torero recognized since Iain Wagner earned the same honor on Nov. 17, 2025.
•          He has since added a penalty at UC Santa Barbara and has three goals on 23 shots through eight matches, tied with Taj Eagleston             for the team lead.
•          The Garden Grove, Calif., native has drawn WCC postseason recognition in each of his first three seasons, landing on the All-WCC             Freshman Team in 2023, honorable mention in 2024 and the second team in 2025.
  •          San Diego has scored 12 goals on 100 shots, 35 of them on target, and has outshot its opponents 100-92 overall and 35-20 on             frame.
•          The Toreros are averaging 1.5 goals per match and have allowed exactly one goal in each of their eight matches. They have yet to             record a clean sheet in 2026.
•          Seven of San Diego's 12 goals have come after halftime, including all five in its two comeback wins.
•          Steven Ramirez and Taj Eagleston lead the team with three goals and seven points each. Noah James follows with two goals, and             Devin Dillon, Luca Fava, Conner Gardenhour and Iain Wagner have one each.
•          Mathias Bauer, Iain Wagner, Luca Fava and Matteo Salcedo share the team lead with two assists each. Nine players have recorded             the 13 Torero assists, which have come in four of the eight matches.
•          Twelve different Toreros have recorded at least one point.
•          Matteo Salcedo has put four of his seven shots on target, three of them at Kansas City.
•          Lucca Adams is 5-2-1 in goal with 12 saves and eight goals allowed across eight starts and 720 minutes, a .600 save percentage             and a 1.00 goals-against average.
•          Eagleston and Bauer have played every minute of the season on the field, and Adams has gone the full 90 in all eight matches.
•          San Diego has led at some point in six of its eight matches. The Toreros trailed 1-0 at halftime against Liberty and at UC Irvine             and won both.
  •          San Diego is 5-0-1 when it scores at least one goal. Both of its losses came in 1-0 matches.
•          The Toreros are 3-0-1 when scoring first and 2-2-0 when conceding first, with comeback wins against Liberty and at UC Irvine.
•          USD is 3-0-1 when leading at halftime and 2-0-0 when trailing at the break.
•          Seven of the eight matches have been decided by one goal or ended level, and San Diego is 4-2-0 in one-goal games.

  Last season in 2025 — Brian Quinn's eighth season as USD men's soccer head coach — he led the Toreros to their fourth consecutive West Coast Conference championship, a feat no program in league history had ever accomplished. As San Diego works through 2026, it is chasing an unprecedented fifth straight WCC title. Here's what the Toreros accomplished along the way:
•          Won their fourth straight WCC Championship — the first program in conference history to do so — with a 4-2 road win over No. 10             Oregon State to clinch the crown
•          Finished the regular season 13-2-3 overall and 7-1-1 in WCC play, good for a No. 7 national ranking
•          Earned the No. 9 overall seed and a first-round bye in the 2025 NCAA Tournament
•          Posted nine shutouts on the season, including a stretch of five straight clean sheets in the middle of conference play
•          Advanced to the postseason for the fourth consecutive year, falling 2-1 to Grand Canyon in the NCAA Tournament second round at             Torero Stadium — one year after reaching the Sweet Sixteen with wins over UC Davis and Duke
•          Head coach Brian Quinn was named WCC Coach of the Year, with Lucca Adams (Goalkeeper of the Year) and Ethan Warne             (Defensive Player of the Year) headlining nine total All-WCC selections
  •          Three Toreros were named to the 2026 WCC Preseason Team and San Diego was picked to finish second in the 2026 WCC             Preseason Coaches Poll.
•          Goalkeeper Lucca Adams, midfielder Noah James and forward Iain Wagner comprised USD's preseason team honorees.
•          Portland was tabbed as the league's preseason favorite, receiving six of the nine first-place votes and totaling 62 points. San             Diego received two first-place votes and finished with 55 points, three ahead of third-place Denver, which received the final first-            place vote and totaled 53 points.
