Sept. 23, 2014 SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Head University of San Diego men's rowing coach Brooks Dagman has released the 2014-15 racing schedule, which features the Toreros at Mission Bay four times, highlighted by the annual San Diego Crew Classic.
"Our team is still quite young," said Dagman. "While we lost a few great seniors to graduation, there are a large number of talented athletes vying for those spots. I am really looking forward to some intense practices as the younger group match up both with and against the group that went to the IRA's last spring."
San Diego will open up its racing season on Oct. 25, as they head up to Sacramento to compete against a majority of the west coast crew teams in the Head of the American on Lake Natmoma.
The Toreros will then quickly return to San Diego the very next day and compete in the Row for the Cure out at Mission Bay on Oct. 26 at 7 a.m.
On Nov. 9, USD will then compete in the San Diego Fall Classic out at Mission Bay with a 7 a.m. race time, and this will conclude the fall racing portion of the schedule for the Toreros.
USD then starts back up again in March, as they will take on cross-town rival UC San Diego in the City Championships out at Mission Bay. This race is schedule for a 7 a.m start.
After the Toreros compete in the Newport Regatta on March 22, they will return to San Diego on March 28-29 to compete in the prestigious San Diego Crew Classic out at Mission Bay. These races last all day, and USD will look to build upon last season success at this regatta.
San Diego returns to the water on April 11, as they compete in the OCC Scrimmage, before heading back to Northern California on April 17-19 to compete in the Stanford invite.
San Diego will then go back to work in the WIRA's on April 26-27, followed by the PCRC's on May 16. USD then hopes to once again qualify for the ITA National's which will be held on May 29-31 in Camden, N.J.
