Kaitlin Bourne

    Women's Swimming & Diving Assistant Coach (5th Season)
Bourne joined the University of San Diego Swimming and Diving coaching staff in July of 2010. She has helped guide and develop the team to break 38 school records, has averaged six All-MPSF athletes per year, and achieved 20 top-3 finishes at the MPSF Conference Championships, five of which were 1st place finishes. Bringing energy and enthusiasm to the pool deck, Bourne is passionate about maintaining a positive and uplifting team atmosphere that is committed to doing the work necessary to improve and succeed.

Bourne holds a master's degree in Leadership Studies and a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of San Diego, both of which she applies to her role as a coach. Bourne is also a graduate of the NCAA Women's Coaching Academy. With certifications to teach Ashtanga, Bikram and Interdisciplinary yoga practices. Bourne works regularly with athletes to enhance core strength, flexibility, centering and concentration skills. She has also contributed greatly to recruiting and team operations.

Bourne began her collegiate coaching career at Colorado State University working as an assistant to John Mattos. With the CSU Rams, she specialized in coaching the sprint and mid-distance groups. She was also the lead contact in recruiting and team travel. Additionally, Bourne has coached age group and high school level swimmers and was the head coach of the Fort Collins' Vortex Masters Team.

As a student at USD, she swam for Coach Mike Keeler and thoroughly enjoyed her experience as a Torero. Bourne helped her team accomplish greatness in 2000 and 2001 when USD won the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference Championships two years in a row. In 2000, Bourne did her part by placing first in the 100 Freestyle and the 400 Freestyle relay. Following that memorable year, Bourne was a Conference Champion again in the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly. She earned All-PCSC Honors each year and set school records in the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle events. In her senior year, she was named co-captain.

Bourne arrived back in San Diego in 2010 where she reunited with Keeler and was offered the job as the assistant coach. She gladly accepted and was thrilled to be back representing her alma mater. She enjoys working to build strong, confident athletes.
