Biography
JUNIOR (2021-2022)
- Competed in two races for the Toreros in the Second Varsity Eight and the Second Varsity Four
SOPHOMORE (2021)
- Competed in four races for the Toreros in the 2V8+ and JV8
FRESHMAN (2020)
- Raced in the 8+ in every fall regatta
- Did not complete the 2020 season due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic
HIGH SCHOOL
- Competed in the SRAA National Championship Regatta in JV4+ in 2017 and Varsity 4 (2018)
- Placed 10th nationally in the Varsity 4 competition in 2019
- Holds the program records in 5k, 6k, 10k, 30 and 60 minute Erg pieces
- Led the football team to the 2016 CA State Championship title
- Also competed on the rugby and track and field teams
PERSONAL
- Son of Jon Van de Grift and Sharon Dudek-Van de Grift
- His brother, Jacob, played football at Yale and his sister, Jenna, rows crew at Yale. Uncle was a wide receiver for the University of San Diego and graduated in 1979.
- Earned the Scholar-Athlete Award at Cathedral Catholic High School
- Member of the National Honors Society and California Scholastic Federation
- Earned first honors throughout high school
- Enjoys cooking, going to the beach and listening to rock music in his spare time
