Sophomore (2013-14): Raced in the Stanford & Bronco Invite, posting a season best time of 23:23 at the Bronco Invite (6k)... Only participated in one race during the spring, the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers Meet, where she had the second best time on the team (10:56). Freshman (2012-13): Ran her top 5k time of the fall at the Bronco Invite (19:14)... Ran a 23.43 (70th place) at the WCC Championships... Clocked a 23:24 (190th place) at the NCAA Regional Championships... Also competed in the UC Riverside Invitational and Stanford Invite... During the spring, ran the 1500m (5:05.28) at the SDSU Aztec Invite. High School: Attended Mercer Island High School where she earned four varsity letters in cross country, four in track and one in basketball... Won the Coaches Award as a senior and was team MVP her sophomore and junior years... Took first in KingCo as a junior while her team won back-to-back KingCo championships... Ran a 18:15 5k her sophomore year, which was good for 13th at Borderclash... Named All-State as a sophomore... Took third at State her freshman season while earning All-Puget Sound, All-State and All-KingCo honors... Her team won the state championship her freshman year... Was team captain of her track team and named Best Distance Runner... Came in fourth at State in the 3200m and won KingCo championships in both track and basketball. Personal: Born October 5, 1993 in Stanford, Calif.... Daughter of Dick Benster and Sandy Efseaff... Chose USD because of the cross country team and the beautiful area... Was also recruited by Brown, Santa Clara, UC San Diego and Yale... Her brother swam for two years at Brown and ran for two year. Major: Pre-Med
