The 2004 West Coast Conference Fall All-Academic teams honor some of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete. The WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports, and six Toreros were selected to their respective team. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team.
USD's student-athletes include Brent Warnken (Sacramento, CA), a senior member of the cross country team who owns a 3.32 grade-point-average as an English major; Rachel Erlandson (Sammamish, WA), a junior member of the cross country team who owns a 3.72 GPA in English; Tiffanie Marley (Lake Elizabeth, CA), a senior member of the cross country team who sports a 3.74 GPA in Diversified Liberal Arts; Marie Claude-Henry (St. Hyacinthe, Canada), a senior on the women's soccer squad, who owns a 3.75 GPA in Business; Lindsey Sherburne (Saratoga, CA), a junior on the volleyball team who sports a 3.22 GPA in Business; and Ryan Guy (Carlsbad, CA), a sophomore on the men's soccer team, who carries a 3.67 GPA.
"These honorees represent the commitment of WCC student-athletes to both academic and athletic excellence," said WCC Commissioner Michael Gilleran. "Every year, it's a difficult process to narrow the long list of qualified nominees from each institution. All of those nominated should be proud of their achievements."
