USD Spring Golf Season Underway

San Diego's spring golf season gets underway this Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 9-10) as Rice University hosts the Fourth Annual Rice Intercollegiate. For the second consecutive year the Rice Intercollegiate takes place at BlackHorse Golf Club in Cypress, just northwest of Houston.

Joining the Toreros this year in the 15-team field are host Rice, Michigan, Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Virginia, Louisiana-Lafayette, Denver, Texas State, North Texas, UT-San Antonio, UT-Arlington, and UT-Pan American.

The format for the 54-hole tournament will be stroke play, with 36 holes on Monday followed by the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Play begins at 7:30 am both days with a shotgun start. Tuesday's round will be seeded based on team scores from the first 36 holes.

Results will be posted on the Rice Owls Web Site, www.riceowls.com, after each day's competition.
