USD Women's Rowing Begins Spring Season

Feb. 19, 2005

USD Women's Rowing completed two weeks of Winter Training Camp on January 31st. The camp emphasized both an intensive fitness component, as well as a strong focus on sport psychology training and team dynamics. Most days consisted of three sessions per day which included work on the ergs; technical training on the water; and peripheral training activities including strength training and yoga; as well as sport psychology, leadership, and team building workshops.

The athletes finished off the two weeks by making individual decisions to compete in the annual San Diego Indoor Classic erg race. And the team set a new precedent: every athlete on the roster, as well as two coxswains, participated in this year's races. Once again, the Toreros showed their strong presence on the bay with top-two finishes in nearly all events. The team is now looking forward to a full season of racing, beginning with a scrimmage against San Diego State University and Orange Coast College on February 19th.
