KY SNYDER SIGNS THREE-YEAR EXTENSION

(San Diego, CA) - The University of San Diego has signed Ky Snyder, Executive Director of Athletics and Associate Vice President for Athletics, to a three-year contract extension, it was announced today by Dr. Mary E. Lyons, USD President. Snyder, who was hired on December 10th, 2003, oversees USD's athletic department that includes sixteen NCAA Division I intercollegiate teams and approximately 400 student-athletes.

"Ky Snyder's great leadership can easily be measured by the outstanding record of USD's intercollegiate athletic program," stated Dr. Mary E. Lyons, USD President. "He has earned the respect of the administration, faculty, staff and students because of his engagement in all aspects of the university and his uncompromising commitment to its values; especially his commitment to the academic success of our student athletes."

The USD intercollegiate athletics program has made great strides under Snyder's guidance the past three years. He has made a positive impact in the areas of strategic long-range planning, budgets, personnel, facility upgrades, fundraising, marketing and promotions, and public relations. He has helped gain additional exposure for its football and basketball programs by partnering with Channel 4 San Diego and CASH 1700 AM radio. In addition to his responsibilities for all administrative, management and supervisory aspects of the USD athletics department, he serves on the NCAA Division I Football Rules Committee, the West Coast Conference TV Committee, the WCC Marketing Committee and the WCC Women's Basketball Committee. During his tenure USD has enjoyed success both on the field and in the classroom. Ten teams have advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and the past two seasons the football team has won back-to-back PFL titles and mid-major national championships.
