LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The University of San Diego's beloved mascot, Diego Torero, made his athletic debut Tuesday night by participating in the Chivas USA 24-hr soccer event across from Staples Center.

Various mascots including Pepperdine's Wave, Cal State Los Angeles's Golden Eagle, McGruff the Crime Dog, and the Red Cross's blood drop, all teamed up to take on the Chivas USA dancers. After half an hour of extreme soccer action, the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

"It was a great experience. The fans were into it and the mascots played hard," said Diego Torero, "but I think I'll stick to just being a mascot."
