Ky Snyder Discusses his contract extension with Coach Kentera on XX 1090

(San Diego, CA) - Ky Snyder, University of San Diego Executive Director of Athletics, has agreed to terms on a new contract extension, it was announced today by Mary E. Lyons, Ph.D., President of the University San Diego. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased that the University of San Diego and Ky Snyder have reached a mutual agreement extending Ky's tenure as Executive Director of Athletics. Under Ky's strong leadership, Torero athletics have continued to excel and reach new heights while our student-athletes succeed in and outside of the classroom," said President Lyons. "USD has received the WCC Commissioner's Cup for two consecutive years due in large part to Ky's leadership."

Snyder, who was named Executive Director of Athletics back on December 10th, 2003, is in the midst of his 7th year leading Torero Athletics. This past school year saw the USD athletics program win its second consecutive West Coast Conference Commissioner's Cup. The WCC trophy goes to the school with the top performing athletics program in the eight-team West Coast Conference. This past fall USD saw both women's and men's soccer teams advance to the NCAA Tournament with the men's squad winning the 2009 WCC championship.

"I'm excited to continue to lead Torero Athletics at the University of San Diego," stated Snyder. "We have exciting challenges in front of us, and although we've made tremendous progress, we are not where we want to be. Our foremost goal continues to be that of winning conference championships on a regular basis while maintaining academic integrity. I appreciate President Lyons confidence and look forward to continuing to work with our outstanding administration, board of trustees, coaches and student athletes, and all of our alumni and supporters of Torero Athletics."

Besides overseeing an athletic department with seventeen NCAA Division I intercollegiate teams and over 450 student-athletes, Snyder also serves on the NCAA Division I Football Rules Committee, the WCC Strategic Long Range Planning Cabinet, USD's President's Advisory Board for Inclusion and Diversity and this past year was the Corporate Chair of the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
