Sept. 16, 2010
Ky Snyder, USD Executive Director of Athletics, was recognized Wednesday evening as one of twenty-two Combined Health Agencies (CHAD) 2010 Volunteers of the Year. For the past two years Snyder was the Corporate Chair of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes. JDRF selected Snyder for his outstanding leadership; and for giving freely of his time, talent and resources to improve the health and well-being of the clients they serve.
"I am honored to be recognized by Combined Health Agencies (CHAD) as the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Volunteer of the Year," said Ky Snyder. "As I listened to the activities of the other 21 healthcare agencies that honored their volunteers, I could not help but think about the great work being done in the San Diego Community by so many people. San Diego is truly a world leader in healthcare research and so much of the financing for that research comes directly from our community. I tip my hat to the great volunteers who are willing to get involved."
Wednesday evening's event was held at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. KUSI's Bridget Naso was Mistress of Ceremonies. Besides Snyder, CHAD recognized the following 2010 Volunteer of the Year: Kathi Boylan, Alzheimer's Association of San Diego/Imperial Chapter; Bruce Berrest, American Diabetes Association; Vivian Soto-Zepeda, American Liver Foundation; Mark Johnson, American Lung Association of California; Jim Waddell, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association; John Trask, Arthritis Foundation, San Diego Area Chapter; Janine Boleda, Autism Society of America, San Diego Chapter; Warren Johnson, Burn Institute; David Volk, Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America; Chris Meacham, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; Mary Lou Connolly, R.N., Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County; Pete Lizarraga, Fresh Start Surgical Gifts; Judy and Leon Faitek, Hemophilia Association of San Diego County; Ronnie Zuccaro, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; Gloria Harris, Ph.D., Mental Health America of San Diego County; Jorge Peralta, Muscular Dystrophy Association; Renata and Gil Ortega, National Multiple Sclerosis Society; R.
