Ky Snyder, USD Executive Director of Athletics, will moderate this Tuesday's Knowledge Transfer event which will explore careers in Sports Management and Marketing. The event, which is open to all USD students, will be held at USD's KIPJ Theatre from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm.
The Knowledge Transfer program was created by parents on the USD Parent Board wanting to give students, alumni and attendees an opportunity to interface and gain practical information from industry professionals connected to the USD community (parents, alumni and friends). Attendees hear first-hand from career professionals how they came to their position and what they would suggest to those looking to pursue a career in the specified professional arena. This program has served as a valuable networking tool and has generated valuable internships, approx. 40, from past panelists. The outcome is always positive for both the students and panelists.
Snyder will guide the discussion (panelists will receive the questions prior to the event) and then open it up to questions from the students. Afterwards there is an opportunity for students, alumni and attendees to stay and talk one-on-one to the panelists in an informal setting. The event will be filmed and posted on the web for those interested that were unable to attend.
Panelists will include Jeanne Bonk '83, Executive VP and CFO, San Diego Chargers Football; Joseph Garagiola, Jr., P'12, Senior VP of Standards and On-Field Operations, Major League Baseball; Ken Kawachi '95, Director of Event Operations, San Diego Padres; Chris Stuart '96, CEO and President, Encore Sports and Entertainment; and Tim Sutton P'14, Coordinating Producer, Big Ten Network.
This USD event is being sponsored by the Parents Association Board, the Student Alumni Association, and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
