SAN DIEGO, Calif. - At the conclusion of each school year all of the Torero student-athletes that carry a 3.50 or above grade-point average (4.0 scale) are honored at the President's Luncheon. Today's event was held in the Jenny Craig Pavilion foyer with forty-four of USD's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete on hand for the ceremony. In attendance to help pay tribute to these exceptional Torero scholar-athletes was Dr. Mary E. Lyons, USD President; Mitch Malachowski, USD Faculty Athletics Representative; Ky Snyder, Executive Director of Athletics; Sarabeth Pollock, Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support; Ron Valenzuela, Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services; and Erin Adkins, Assistant Director of Compliance. Numerous other athletic department personnel and faculty members joined in as well.
"The President's Luncheon for Scholar Athletes showcases the academic excellence of the student athletes, but it also allows student athletes to invite their favorite professors to be a part of the celebration," said Sarabeth Pollock, Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support. "Every year student athletes and faculty tell me that this is their favorite end-of-year event. It is a wonderful opportunity to highlight student athletes who excel both in their sport and in the classroom."
