USD Football Ranked No. 19 in final FCS Poll

The USD football team was ranked No. 19 in the final STATS FCS Top 25 poll of the season, the highest season-ending ranking in program history. The Toreros finished the year 10-2 and a perfect 8-0 in the PFL. USD won at Cal Poly 35-21 in the first round of the FCS Playoffs, giving the Toreros, a non-scholarship program, their first playoff win.

The Toreros led the PFL in both scoring offense (38.3 ppg) and scoring defense (12.9 ppg) and had 18 players earn All-PFL recognition while Head Coach Dale Lindsey was named PFL Coach of the Year.

The Toreros also had three players earn All-American honors. Senior running back Jonah Hodges, the PFL Offensive Player of the Year, was an AP FCS Second Team All-American and also was named to the STATS FCS All-American third team as an all-purpose player.

Redshirt sophomore left tackle Daniel Cooney was named a Second Team All-American by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and junior defensive lineman Jonathan Petersen was named a Third Team All-American by Hero Sports.

This is only the second time the Toreros have been in the top 25 in the season's final rankings. USD finished No. 20 in 2006 in Jim Harbaugh's final season as head coach.
