Toreros show some early speed against UCSD

Feb. 17, 2017

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - With the City Championships only one week away, The Toreros had a chance to check their top hull speed against UCSD early Thursday morning on Mission Bay. The top eight from USD claimed the competition by winning a majority of the pieces against a deep and talented UCSD squad. The varsity eight, comprised of Connor Olson at the stroke seat, Nick Watson at 7, Owen Chase at 6, Parker Danz at 5, Jack Posthauer at 4, Sam Stephens at 3, Jack Pokalsky at 2 and Konrad Altvater at bow, have only had a few practices together but are coming together well as a crew.

"While it is still early, the varsity squad showed some promise by executing the basics well," Head Coach Brooks Dagman said. "The upcoming City Championships will be a significant test for us as we are definitely David verses UCSD's Goliath. If everyone stays healthy, we should be able to bring some game to the cities."

Look for details regarding the City Championships, which will be a best two out of three piece format at Mission Bay on Saturday, February 25th.
