Feb. 24, 2017 SAN DIEGO, Calif. - With San Diego State racing elsewhere, the Torero men's crew squad will face the UC San Diego Tritons in SeaWorld channel on Mission Bay Saturday morning for the City Championships. Racing will start at 7:00 a.m., with the varsity eight, followed by the second varsity eight, and then the novice four.
The champions will be the school who claims wins in two out of three pieces. The first piece will last six minutes, with the second piece lasting four minutes and the final piece lasting three minutes.
"We have used this format for a few years, and it always proves to be a hard fought contest," Head Coach Brooks Dagman said. "The format really points out any strengths and weaknesses with the squads."
All of the racing starts near the south Ingraham bridge and heads southeast in SeaWorld Channel. The South Shores public launching area is the recommended viewing spot to watch the final seconds of each race.
