March 17, 2017 SAN DIEGO, Calif. - A foggy morning resulting in more than an hour delay broke to a typical still San Diego morning on Friday. Racing conditions were flat for all races against Gonzaga, Santa Clara and UCSD. Both USD's varsity and second varsity eights placed second behind Santa Clara.
The Toreros raced and fought valiantly, coming in ahead of Gonzaga, and avenged themselves of a City Champs loss against UCSD. While the Toreros defeated the Tritons and the Bulldogs, they placed second, falling to the Broncos from Santa Clara.
"The team has shown steady improvement since their last outing against UCSD," said Head Coach Brooks Dagman. "The six second gap between us and Santa Clara is not insurmountable. We now have the motivation to push for more speed and we are looking forward to a rematch at the Crew Classic in two weeks."
