Reiter with another Top-5 Finish at Amateur Tournament

Redshirt sophomore finished tied for 4th at SCGA Amateur Championship

JURUPA VALLEY, Calif. – San Diego redshirt sophomore Charlie Reiter finished in a tie for fourth while teammate Donald Kay fell just outside the top-10 with an 11th-place finish as the two Toreros wrapped up play at the 121st SCGA Amateur Championship at Goose Creek Country Club on Thursday.

Reiter, who finished with scores in the 60s in all four rounds of the tournament, shot 11-under 269 (68-68-67-66) in the amateur event. In the final round on Thursday, he turned in his best round of the week at 4-under 66, and, for the second day in a row, he was par or better in 17 of the 18 holes.

He finished four strokes back of the co-leaders after regulation and was one of only four players in the 83-player field to have all four rounds in the 60s.

It was Reiter's second top-five finish in an amateur tournament in the last four weeks as he finished runner-up at the California Amateur Championship in late July and early August.

Kay, who led the tournament field after the first two days, bounced back by turning in a below-par round on Thursday. The redshirt junior shot a 1-under 69, his third round in the 60s of the week. He had three birdies in the final round and 19 total in the tournament.
