SAN DIEGO — University of San Diego Vice President for Operations and Chief Operating Officer
Ky Snyder has been appointed interim director of Torero Athletics by USD President James T. Harris, III. Snyder will serve in the role until a permanent Executive Director of Athletics is appointed following a national search.
"I am grateful to Ky for stepping in at this pivotal moment in time," said President Harris. "Ky's deep knowledge of our Toreros programs will help us steadily navigate through this transition and I am confident we will be well-positioned to welcome the next leader of Torero athletics."
Snyder previously served as Executive Director of Athletics from 2004-2016. He first joined the USD family as the Director of Athletic Development 1990-96.
"Our athletics programs have long been an important part of the USD tradition and it's an honor to be asked to step in to assist," said Snyder. "My focus during this period will be supporting our coaches and staff so we can deliver the best possible experience to our student athletes."
Snyder's prior positions outside USD include serving as President of the San Diego International Sports Council and President of the San Diego Super Bowl XXXVII Host Committee. He is a former student athlete playing with the San Diego State University football program.
As Vice President of University Operations, Snyder will continue to oversee a diverse division that includes Facilities Management; University Design; Human Resources; Parking Services and Campus Scheduling; and Public Safety.
The University's national search for a permanent Executive Director of Athletics will commence shortly and will be led by President Harris.
