WCC Announces Fall All-Academic Team

Dec. 16, 2003

The 2003 West Coast Conference Fall All-Academic teams honor some of the league's finest examples of the consummate scholar-athlete. At the completion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each of the participating sponsored sports. To be considered, a student-athlete must earn at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, while also being a significant contributor to his or her team. USD had six student-athletes selected - Tiffanie Marley, women's cross country; Steve Trudelle, men's cross country; Kellen Hiroto and Eric Wunderle, men's soccer; and Libby Bassett and Marie-Claude Henry, women's soccer.

Tiffanie Marley, the 2003 WCC Champion this past season during her junior campaign, carries a 3.64 GPA in her major of Diversified Liberal Arts. Steve Trudelle, a senior on the men's cross country team, has a 3.55 GPA in Business. From women's soccer, Libby Bassett is a senior History major with a 3.68 GPA, and junior Marie-Claude Henry owns a 3.75 GPA in Business. From men's soccer, senior Kellen Hiroto owns a 3.67 GPA in History and senior Eric Wunderle sports a 3.48 GPA in Accounting.

"These honorees represent the commitment of WCC student-athletes to both academic and athletic excellence," said WCC Commissioner Michael Gilleran. "Every year it's a difficult process to narrow the long list of qualified nominees from each institution. All of those nominated should be proud of their achievements."
