USD Toreros and SDSU Aztecs are making the holiday season bright for many San Diego children this month. The Student Athlete Councils from both institutions joined together to collect holiday gifts for children from their local YMCA youth programs. The First Annual Toreros Linking to the Community (TLC) Toy Drive was a tremendous success, due in large part to the collection efforts during the December 3rd men's basketball contest between the two schools. USD athletes donned Santa hats and collected over $700 and over 100 gifts from generous fans and students. During the halftime program, YMCA representatives from the East County YMCA and the Mission Valley Family YMCA were presented with a cart overflowing with holiday gifts. The Toreros and Aztecs will support over 40 families this holiday season with toys for the kids and grocery store gift certificates to ensure a complete holiday meal.
