Biography
SOPHOMORE (2024-25)
- Raced in four meets during the cross country campaign, did not compete in the track season
- Made her Torero debut at the Mark Covert Classic (Aug. 31), completing the 5K course in 19:50.1
- Shaved off nearly a whole minute a couple weeks later at the Biola Invitational (Sept. 13) with a time of 18:57.0Â
- Logged her fastest 6K time of 23:29.8 at the Highlander Invite (Oct. 19)Â
- Completed the WCC Championships (Nov. 2) with a time of 23:34.0
FRESHMAN (2023-24 – at American)
- Attended American University in Washington D.C. before transferring to USD
- Cross Country Scored for the team in each of her three appearances ... Made collegiate debut with a 4k at the Spider Alumni Open (9/2) while finishing 51st overall and fourth on the team in a time of 15:20 ... Ran the 6k for the next two meets before being sidelined with an injury starting with a 24:18 at the Navy Cross Country Invitational (9/9) where she finished 39th overall and third on the team ... Again placed third for the team and 143rd overall at the Paul Short Run (9/30) with a season best and personal record of 23:41 ... Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

- Outdoor Track – Competed in two meets ... Finished the 1500m in 5:22.00 at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational (4/5-4/6) ... Finished sixth in the 3000m at the Bucknell Team Challenge (4/20) crossing in 11:12.80 ... Patriot League Academic Honor Roll

- Was a member of the National Honors Society (2021-23), the National Social Studies Honors Society (2021-23), and the National Latin Honors Society (2021-23)
- Recipient of the Mullen High School Torch Award, the Seal of Biliteracy, and was the Class of 2023 Valedictorian
- Was also a member of the Academic All-State First Team
PERSONAL
- On choosing USD: "When I called coach initially to learn about the program and school, he said the four words: 'beach, run, team, sunny'Â and I was sold. I chose USD almost solely because of my team, but also because of the gorgeous campus, the ocean, and the communities around San Diego that make it so diverse as well as connected. It is a really special place."
- Parents are Deborah and Michael O’Connell
- Has a twin sister Emma, who also attends USD, and was another reason to come to the Torero family
- Favorite food is mac and cheese
