Biography
Junior (2011-12): In her first season as a Torero, competed in five meets in the fall... Clocked her best 6k time of 22:27.9 at the UC Riverside Invitational... Finished in 52nd place at the WCC Championships with a time of 23:17.0... Ran in the NCAA Western Regionals, where she finished in 156th place with a time of 23:01... Also competed in the Stanford Invite (6k; 23:04.0) and Bronco Invite (5k; 18:21.9)... Was one of USD[apos]s top runners in the track season, finishing with the top USD time in eight of her events throughout the spring... Competed in the one mile, 1500m, 3000m, 5000m, 10k and distance medley... Came in first in the 1500m at the Point Loma Collegiate Meet with a time of 4:47.62... Represented the Toreros at the Mt. Sac Relays, finishing in 27th place in the 10k... Named to the WCC Commissioner[apos]s Honor Roll with a 3.32 GPA.
Sophomore (2010-2011): Ran cross country at the University of North Carolina in 2010.
Freshman (2009-2010): Competed in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field at North Dakota State University... Named second-team All-Summit League in cross country in 2009... Earned individual all-conference honors in indoor and outdoor track in the Summit League Championships in 2010... Helped lead her team to a 2010 Summit League championship in indoor and outdoor track and field.
High School: Attended Holy Family Catholic High School... Earned four varsity letters in cross country for head coach Jim Kappel... Named All-State as a junior and senior, taking fifth place in the state meet as a junior and fourth place as a senior... Was section champion as a junior and senior, while also winning the conference during her senior year... Logged a 14:57 in the 4k in her junior year... Also competed in soccer, cross country skiing, and track and field.
Personal: Born June 26, 1991 in Minneapolis, Minn.... Daughter of Caroline Rice... Chose USD because of the coach, the location, and because it is a faith-based institution... Was also recruited by Minnesota, Wisconsin, the United States Military Academy, North Dakota, and Georgetown.
