What is your most memorable swimming/diving moment? Why?
My most memorable moment was my senior year in high school when I won the 100 yard butterfly at the Meet of Champions. This was my most memorable moment because no one believed that I would be able to win this event another time, let alone three times in a row. There was so much doubt, but once I hit the wall I was so overjoyed that I began to cry and experienced an amazing moment with my coach, whom I’ve known all my life.
Describe yourself as an athlete and as a student.
Both academically and athletically, I am a very determined person. My stubbornness pushes me to never settle for anything but my best. I am also a good leader who would do anything for my team. As a student-athlete, I’ve learned that there is no time for procrastination, so I have improved tremendously with my time management.
What piece of coaching and/or personal advice has stuck with you over the years?
My former coach always used to say, “No one’s ever died from not being able to breathe.” For some reason this always stuck with me and pushed me to work harder in practice.
What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
In 10 years, I picture myself being a wildlife veterinarian. I hope to work with endangered species in their habitats, and helps animals to thrive rather than barely survive.
