Alec Henden joined the University of San Diego Athletics Staff in September 2024 to serve as the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications. Henden serves as the primary contact for Torero women’s basketball, men’s soccer, softball and women’s rowing.
 
Most recently Henden served as the Athletic Communications Assistant for the Big West’s UC San Diego in La Jolla. He was the primary contact for Tritons fencing, men’s tennis, men’s rowing and women’s rowing. Alec also assisted the communications team in game day operations serving as a statistician, social media assistant and assisted with UC San Diego broadcasts on ESPN+.
 
Henden spent two years in the Bay Area, working as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at the University of San Francisco. During his time on the Hilltop, Alec was the primary contact for Dons' women's basketball, baseball, women's soccer, track and field, cross country, men's and women's tennis, as well as beach volleyball. 
 
At USF, Alec worked alongside two WNIT basketball teams and the program's all-time leader in three point makes and third on the team's all-time scoring list (Ioanna Krimili). Henden also had the pleasure of working with a four-time National Champion participant (Ruby Smee) in both cross country and track and field. 
 
Immediately following graduation, Alec was named the Media Relations Manager for the Stockton Ports professional baseball team (Low-A Affiliate Oakland Athletics) heading into the 2020 season. Henden was responsible for all forms of external and internal communication for the organization, as well as running the website and managing the team's social media channels. While in the Central Valley, Alec began his path working in collegiate athletics assisting the communications team and game day operations for the University of the Pacific. 

A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Alec's a graduate of Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. During his time in Tempe, Henden covered Sun Devil athletics for SBNation's House of Sparky writing game recaps, opinion pieces and feature stories. Alec holds a Bachelor's of Arts degree in sports journalism as well as a minor in political science.
