May 5, 2003

The University of San Diego men's tennis program got some more good news with the recent signing of Jeff Das, a senior at Troy High School in Fullerton, California. Das signed a national letter-of-intent and will join the Toreros for the 2003 Fall Semester.

Das, one of the top junior tennis players in the nation, is currently ranked No. 3 in Southern California and No. 17 in the nation in the United States Tennis Association junior rankings. He recently took 5th place at the prestigious Easter Bowl Tournament in Palm Springs, and also won the Ojai Valley CIF Championships. His combined singles record this season is 41-10!

"Jeff is one of the best competitors I have ever seen," said USD head coach Tom Hagedorn. "He is a hard worker and very talented. He will have an immediate impact on college tennis and our program here at the University of San Diego. I can't say enough good things about Jeff Das!"

Das joins Matthew Ozurovich in Hagedorn's outstanding recruiting class. Ozurovich, a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, is currently ranked No. 19 in the Southern California Tennis Association rankings. The Toreros, with a record of 13-9 and national ranking of No. 42, earned an at-large bid into the 2003 NCAA Men's Tennis Championships. The Toreros will play against San Diego State on SDSU's campus on Saturday, May 10th at 1:00 pm.
