(USD's West Tennis Courts) - The 28th-ranked University of San Diego men's tennis team claimed city bragging rights as it knocked off rivals and 52nd-ranked San Diego State, 4-3 Saturday afternoon in San Diego. USD senior Jason Pongsrikul (Point Loma HS) defeated SDSU senior Ryan Redondo (Sunset HS) by scores of 6-4 and 7-6 to clinch the match. The Aztecs had jumped out to a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point, winning all three matches, before the Toreros rallied in singles action, winning four-of-six to take the team victory- USD's first win in its last four outings. USD is now 5-3 on the year, SDSU drops to 2-3.
