SAN DIEGO (AP) - Corey Belser scored a career-high 28 points and Nick Lewis added 16 as the University of San Diego beat Point Loma Nazarene 104-57 Thursday night.
It was the fifth victory in a row for the West Coast Conference Toreros (6-2, 0-0). Point Loma fell to 5-4 overall (5-2 in NAIA play).
Belser , a 6-7 senior, connected on his first nine shots from the field in the first half, including four-of-four from three-point land as the Toreros took a 47-37 lead at intermission.
Lewis scored eight of his 16 points in the first 10 minutes of the second half as the Toreros ran off to a 25-point lead, 68-43, and coasted home.
San Diego shot 40-for-68 (63 percent) from the floor with Belser finishing 11 of 14.
Gyno Pomare and Brandon Johnson joined Belser and Lewis in double figures with 11 points apiece.
Tim Kruge led Point Loma with 18 points while Casey Ortiz had 12 and Xavier Lopez 11.
San Diego also set a school record with 19 steals. Theo White came away with four and Belser and Ross DeRogatis had three each. The previous record was 17, set Jan. 9, 1982 against Nebraska-Wesleyan.
