Evan Harney Selected Offensive Back Of The Year

USD record-setting running back Evan Harney (Fallbrook, CA) headlines a talented 2004 Don Hansen's Football Gazette NCAA I-AA Mid-Major All-American team. Harney earned Offensive Back of the Year by the publication after being named a First Team All-PFL player. He rushed for 1,334 yards and 18 touchdowns on 303 carries for the 7-4 Toreros. Joining Harney on the All-America First Team was QB Todd Mortensen, offensive tackle Keith Zapalac and line backer Jeff Langdon.

Harney, a three-time PFL Player of the Week, finished fourth in the country in scoring (10.36 ppg). He is the USD career leader in rushing yards (2,809), rushing attempts (588), rushing TDs (35) and total points (236). He is also the national active career leader in points per game (11.2).

Junior Nick Garton was named Second Team Defense as a kick returner, while WR Michael Gasperson was selected Honorable Mention as a wide receiver. A list of all the players named All-America can be found on the USD football page.
