(San Diego, CA) - Ted Tollner has agreed to return for a second straight year as color analyst for USD football radio broadcasts. He will join first year play-by-play announcer Chris Ello this season with the broadcasts airing on San Diego 1700 AM. Tollner will miss three of USD's eleven games due to previous commitments, including the season opener at Azusa Pacific on September 1st, but will be here for the home opener against Marist on September 8th. "We are excited to have Ted back as part of our football broadcasting team," said Ky Snyder, Executive Director of Athletics. "Our fans will get some outstanding insight on the collegiate game from him and I believe he and Chris Ello will make a great team."
No stranger to San Diego, Tollner was Offensive Coordinator for the San Diego Chargers between 1989-91 and head coach for San Diego State between 1994-2001. All told he has over 30 years coaching experience on the college and NFL levels. He most recently was the Offensive Coordinator for the Detroit Lions in 2005, and prior to that spent three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers where he was Quarterbacks Coach and eventually Offensive Coordinator. His vast coaching resume also includes head coach at USC from 1982-86, and NFL stops with the Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills.
Tollner and his wife, Barbara, have two daughters, Linda and Tammy, and one son, Bruce, and 10 grandchildren.
