Box Score

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego split on day three of the San Diego Classic with a 3-2 win in game two against Quinnipiac and a 3-0 loss to Oklahoma State in game one.

Taryn Keenan's double in the third inning helped lift the Toreros to a three-run lead over the Bobcats in game two.

In game two, San Diego took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Kristen Gensler was at third base and teammate Carey Casciola singled allowing Gensler to score for the 1-0 lead. The scoring continued in the third inning when Casciola took base-on-balls with one out. Celeste Soto reached first base on a fielder's choice forcing Casciola out and second base for the second out. Soto stole second base putting her in scoring position. Taylor Hensley singled to short stop and Soto advanced to third base. Taryn Keenan doubled allowing Hensley and Soto to score lifting USD to a 3-0 lead.

The Bobcats made a two run come-back in the fifth inning but USD held tough on defense for the win.

In game one, USD fell behind as the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings. San Diego recorded three hits against OSU. Pitcher Jennifer Ellenbeck went the distance pitching a complete game and striking out four batters.

USD returns to the USD Softball Complex on Sunday for the final day of the San Diego Classic II when they play Northern Colorado at 2:00 p.m.
