SAN DIEGO, Calif - The University of San Diego softball team posted a 2-1 loss today to the Northern Colorado Bears to wrap the San Diego Classic II at the USD Softball Complex Sunday afternoon.
Down 1-0, Kristen Gensler led off the third inning with a single up the middle. Megan Walsh sacrifice-bunted Gensler to second base. Carey Casciola grounded out to third base for the second out moving Gensler to third base. Celeste Soto singled to left field scoring Gensler and managed to make it all the way to third base advancing on the throw. The Bears would score in the seventh inning winning 2-1.
Katie Jo Nelson stuck out five batters pitching her third complete game of the season. The Toreros fall to 5-19 overall.
San Diego returns to action for a single game against the Texas Tech Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 at the USD Softball Complex.
