SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's volleyball team has moved up one spot to No. 11 in the latest AVCA top-25 poll. This marks the seventh consecutive week that the Toreros have appeared in the top-25.
The Toreros posted a perfect 2-0 record this past week, as they cruised to a pair of sweeps over the University of San rancisco and Santa Clara University. In Thursday's win over USF, Katie Hoekman led all players with 12 kills, while only committing three errors on 17 attempts to post a .529 hitting percentage, and she had five blocks, two solo. Sandra Lozic posted a double-double with 10 kills, while recording 10 digs. Rachel Alvey (19 assists) and Jianna Bonomi (18 assists) helped steer the USD offense to a .340 team attack percentage.
Then in the win over SCU on Saturday, Chloe Ferrari led all players with 11 kills, while only committing one error to hit for a .625 clip, and she recorded four blocks, one solo. Taylor Hollins also recorded double-digit kills with 10, while also recording eight digs. Both Lozic and Hoekman recorded eight kills apiece. Bonomi (18 assists) and Alvey (17 assists) helped steer the team to a .340 attack percentage, while C'era Oliveira led the team with 12 digs.
The Toreros will return to action on Thursday, as they travel to Spokane, Wash. to take on upstart Gonaaga University in a 6 p.m. WCC match.
