Troy McClelland of the football team has been named the USD Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for the week of Oct. 20 to Oct. 27.

McClelland, senior captain of the team, was named the co-Pioneer Football League defensive player of the week for his outstanding performance in the team's 40-29 victory over the Dayton Flyers last Saturday. The Torero safety forced two Flyer turnovers that helped set up San Diego touchdowns. He forced a fumble that San Diego recovered at the Dayton 28-yard line and three plays later was converted into a go-ahead touchdown. In the fourth quarter McClelland intercepted a pass and returned it 27 yards to the Dayton 14, setting up San Diego's final score. He also had six tackles (four solo) in the contest.
