GAME #5: The USD Toreros (3-1; 1-1 PFL), under the direction of second year head coach Dale Lindsey, continue PFL play following a bye week. The Toreros play host to the Stetson Hatters ( 2-3, 0-1 PFL) this Saturday, October 11th, at 2:00 p.m. at Walter J. Zable Field at Torero Stadium (6,000 capacity). This is USD's homecoming/family weekend.

TOREROS SUPPORT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH: For Saturday's homecoming game vs. Stetson, USD coaches, players and the spirit team will wear purple game apparel. Purple is the official color of the domestic violence awareness movement and October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The University of San Diego, its athletic department, football team, and the women's center will help raise awareness and address the health and societal concern of domestic violence with promotional items and a halftime presentation. USD's commitment to cherishing the inherent dignity of every person serve as the impetus for addressing this national issue.

SERIES RECORD: This is just the second meeting between USD and Stetson... The Toreros won last year's first meeting in DeLand, Florida, by the score of 59-0. On the strength of 400 yards of total offense in the first half the Toreros jumped out to a 35-0 intermission lead and never looked back. USD would go on to finish with 624 yards of offense. Kenn James and Joe Ferguson carried the bulk of the load on the ground. James finished with 146 yards on 13 carries and found the endzone twice (24 & 34 yards), while Ferguson chipped in with 91 yards on just 6 carries with two scores (37 & 40 yards).

WEBCAST/VIDEO STREAM: Saturday's contest will be webcast live with Jack Cronin (play-by-play) and JT Rogan (color analyst) calling the action. The pre-game show begins at 1:50 pm. The audio-video feed will be streamed at www.usdtoreros.com.

A LOOK AHEAD: Following the Stetson game the Toreros fly to the midwest to take on the Butler Bulldogs on Saturday, October 18th. Game time is 9:00 a.m. (pacific) from Butler Bowl in Indianapolis, Indiana.

BELL RECOGNIZED BY SAN DIEGO HALL OF CHAMPIONS: Senior wide receiver Reggie Bell (Union City, CA) was recognized by the San Diego Hall of Champions as an amateur star of the month for September... The Torero team captain hauled in 14 passes for 354 yards (25.3 yards per reception average) with 4 touchdowns. In team's 39-29 home win over Princeton (Sept. 20th) he hauled in 4 passes for 186 yards and two TDs (29 & 48 yards). His 82-yard reception set up another USD score, and he chipped in with a 19-yard pass and 55 yard punt return as USD defeated Princeton for the first time in three tries. In USD's 20-16 PFL road win at Marist on Sept. 27th, Bell caught the game-winning TD with 5 seconds left in the game - a 36-yard reception from QB Keith Williams. For the game Bell finished with 4 receptions for 78 yards and a score. He opened the season with 5 receptions for 78 yards and 1 score in the team's 23-17 win over Western New Mexico.

TORERO TIDBITS: USD has won its last four homecoming games and ten of its last eleven... Since 1993 the Toreros are 11-2 against PFL opponents that have come to San Diego and played in the homecoming contest... The most points USD has scored in a homecoming game is 56 twice (56-3 vs. Butler in 2006; 56-3 vs. Pomona-Pitzer in 1991)... The most points combined is 101 points (52-49 PFL win over Davidson)... The Toreros have won six straight home games at Torero Stadium dating back to last season... The team's 20-16 come-from-behind win at Marist on September 27th marked the fourth time in the last six meetings with the Red Foxes that the Toreros scored the go-ahead points in the final minute of the game for the victory... SCOUTING THE STETSON HATTERS: Stetson brought back football for the 2013 season after discontinuing the program back in 1957... Last season Stetson finished 2-9 (1-7 PFL), and this year is off to a 2-3 start (0-1 PFL) under second year head coach Roger Hughes (4-12 @ Stetson, 51-64 overall as head coach)... The Hatters return 23 starters and 49 lettermen from last year's squad... This season Stetson owns wins over Warner (35-16) and Birmingham-Southern (37-19)... This past weekend they dropped their PFL opener at home to Butler by the score of 49-41...
