Dale Lindsey and his coaching staff are pleased to announce their 2014 recruiting class. The 36 incoming freshman recruits will join up with the rest of the Torero returners when the team reports for camp on Tuesday, August 12th. Seven of the recruits are from San Diego County, and a total of thirty student-athletes hail from the state of California. Rounding out the freshman class are recruits from the states of Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina and Utah. By position the incoming class includes nine offensive linemen, four safeties, four quarterbacks, three defensive linemen, three defensive backs, three linebackers, three tight ends, two running backs, two wide receivers, one fullback, one kicker/punter and one long snapper.
The team's first practice for camp is slated for Wednesday, August 13th. USD's season opener is September 6th against Western New Mexico (6 pm) at Walter J. Zable Field at Torero Stadium. This past season the Toreros finished 8-3 overall, won seven of their final eight, and ended the campaign with four straight victories.
