If the women's basketball team seems to be a close-knit group, determined to win for each other, you might want to look a little closer at the University of San Diego roster.
It's there where you'll find Nigeria-born seniors Sophia and Sophie Ederaine and San Diego-born Maya and Malina Hood, both in their third year with the USD program. The two sets of twin sisters are at least four reasons why the program has enjoyed a competitive level of success as a top-tier West Coast Conference team and through its recent postseason appearances.
"Being at USD has definitely been an experience, a fun four years of basketball, education, small class sizes and the team has been like a family," said Sophia Ederaine, a 6-foot-3 forward who is 30 minutes older than Sophie, a 5-9 guard. "But having my sister here with me, having a best friend the moment you're born, is great. She's someone you know will always be there for you."
