SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Olsen was named WCC Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Olsen and the Torero defense shutout No. 16 Cal 3-0 Friday evening in the 2015 season opener.

Olsen, the reigning WCC Freshman of the Year, collected four saves including a pair of diving stops. The Golden Bears attempted 11 corner kicks, but Olsen and the USD back line held them scoreless. In just 21 career matches, Olsen has posted seven shutouts.

Olsen and the Toreros (1-0-0) return to action tonight when they host UC Riverside (1-0-0) at 7:30 p.m. at Torero Stadium.
