Box Score

STOCKTON, Calif. â€" The USD Softball team (18-26, 4-4) swept Pacific on the road Saturday afternoon to improve to 4-4 in WCC play. The Toreros had 24 combined hits to notch a 3-0 and 9-6 win.

SAN DIEGO 3, PACIFIC 0

After leaving five runners on base through the first three innings, the Toreros broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth inning. With a runner on second, Lauren Berriatua singled through the left side to bring home pinch runner Shannon McKeon.

Mary Grabowski extended the lead in the following inning with a clutch two out two RBI single down the rightfield line.

That would be all the scoring the Toreros would need as Megan Sabbatini (10-15) was near perfect. She allowed just one hit, struck out nine, walked none, and faced just one over the minimum amount of batters to pick up her tenth win of the season. Sabbatini now has seven complete games and three shutouts on the season.

SAN DIEGO 9, PACIFIC 6

After notching just one hit against Sabbatini in game one, the Tigers had two hits in the first inning in game two, scoring one on a RBI single.

The Tigers scored one more in the second on a leadoff solo home run by Nicole Zapotoczny.

The Toreros scored two runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2. With runners on first and second, Mary Grabowski hit a single to center. The Tiger centerfielder committed an error, allowing Kailey Hill to score. The next batter, Danielle Mavridis, singled up the middle to score Lauren Kane from third.

The Tigers retook the lead in the bottom of the inning, scoring an unearned run.

The Toreros opened up a lead in the fifth inning, scoring three runs on four hits. Olivia Sandusky and Taylor Spence led off the inning with singles. After a Kailey Hill fielder's choice, USD had runners on first and third. Lauren Kane knocked in Sandusky with a single up the middle. Tatum Schultz then doubled to the left center gap to plate two more runs.

The Toreros put the game out of reach in the sixth inning. Hannah Gilliland, Kailey Hill, and Lauren Kane each collected RBI's to put USD up 8-3. Hill's double was the 66th for the Toreros' this season, which is a new school record.

The Tigers made a late push in the sixth inning with a three run home run by Haylee Moran-Rowen to cut the lead to 8-6 USD.

The Toreros scored an insurance run in the seventh inning on a Sandusky RBI single.

Sabbatini (11-15) earned the win after pitching 5.1 innings and allowing three earned runs. She struck out five and walked none. Grace Hernandez pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing two earned runs on just one hit to pick up her third save of the season.
