Final SDSU Fall Classic Result

SAN DIEGO -- USD freshman Carolin Nonnenmacher (Goeppingen, Germany) continued her stellar play with today's win in the championship round of the White Draw Bracket at the San Diego Fall Classic 1. Nonnenmacher defeated Erandi Martinez from UTEP in three sets (5-7, 6-2, 6-2). Sophomore Gemma Garcia (Barcelona, Spain) also advanced to the championship round of the Blue Bracket. She dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to LMU's Siobhan Anderson.

USD also fared well in three of their four third place matches today. Junior Sophia Chow (Sao Paulo, Brazil) downed Emilia Occhipinti of Grand Canyon, 7-5, 7-6 (1). Sophomore Daniela Morales (Guadalajara, Mexico) downed Paola Diaz of SDSU 6-1, 6-2 in the Blue Bracket. Maria-Paula Torres (Lima, Peru) dropped a hard fought 6-2, 6-2 decision to Jackie Wagner of San Jose State. In doubles play, Chow and Torres dropped their championship match in the Gold Bracket to LMU's Anderson/Romeka, 6-2. In the third place match in the Red Bracket, Morales and Chow teamed up to defeat the SJSU tandem of Vereecke/Wagner, 6-2.
