PULLMAN, Wash. — #44 San Diego Women's Tennis dropped a tough 4-2 decision to #61 Washington State on Friday afternoon at the WSU Outdoor Tennis Courts as it concluded its 2025 regular season campaign. 

Both of USD's points came from singles victories from each of their two seniors, Claudia de las Heras, and Kailey Evans. 

After San Diego dropped the doubles point, Evans wasted no time evening the contest back at one point each, as she dominated her opponent in number two singles with a pair of 6-2 victories. 

USD then fell in number three and four singles, giving WSU a 3-1 advantage with three matches to go before de las Heras fought back and claimed a 7-5, 2-6, 6-0 victory on court one to win her fourth straight singles match, cutting the deficit to one at 3-2. 

After de las Heras' win, Anni Puls and Gabby Gregg each found themselves in must-win third sets in number five and six singles, but they could not hold on as Puls fell by a 3-6, 7-5, 2-6 mark, ending the match at 4-2 in favor of the Cougars. 

The Toreros will be back in action on Thursday, April 26, as they begin play in the West Coast Conference Tournament at the Aztec Tennis Center.
