ITA Draw Day 2

San Diego, Calif. - After a day of tough competition against numerous seeded duos and individuals, two doubles teams will advance to the next round in the ITA Southwest Regionals. All Toreros in singles play fell to the competition after several rain delays at the Barnes Tennis Center.

There were two San Diego doubles teams who were not granted an initial bye in the first round who are now advancing to play tomorrow morning. Kati Kukaras and Daniela Morales beat out a duo from Fullerton to continue through the draw. They will play against Loyola Marymount tomorrow, Oct. 21 at 9 a.m. Additionally, Nicole Anderson and Carolin Nonnenmacher will advance to take on a pair from USC tomorrow morning after an 8-2 win against UC Riverside.

The other two San Diego doubles teams fell to the competition. Columba DiFilippo and Gemma Garcia battled out a close set against Long Beach State and eventually lost with a score of 9-8. Maria Torres and Sophia Chow also lost a close one to 8th seeded UCLA with a score of 8-6.

In singles play, the three remaining Toreros were all matched up against seeded individuals. Nonnenmacher battled Terri Fleming from UCLA who is seeded 8th in the Regionals. Nonnenmacher fell quickly to Fleming with a 6-3, 6-2 set.

Against 4th seeded Avan Broomfield from UCLA, USD's Maria Torres was defeated 6-2, 6-1.

Finally, Daniela Morales fought hard against 6th seeded Kelley Anderson from ASU with a score of 6-0, 6-2.
