TEMPE, Ariz. -- San Diego split a pair of contests Saturday, defeating North Dakota and falling to Illinois State at the Littlewood Classic.
The Toreros (6-3) erupted for a season-high 11 runs in an, 11-3, victory against North Dakota but could not keep the momentum going and dropped a, 3-2, decision to Illinois State. Starting pitcher, Delaney Heller, pitched 3 2/3 innings and permitted three runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Hannah Boos pitched the remainder of the game, allowing one hit and picking up one strikeout.
Immediately following the win, the Toreros played Illinois State for the second time this weekend. Halle Kyler pitched a complete game and allowed just three runs on four hits with two strikeouts.
USD out-hit Illinois State, 6-4, including a home run by Hill, but it was not enough for the Toreros to claim a second victory on the day.
