SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's tennis won their second match of the week when they defeated Texas State (2-9) in a 6-1 victory.

The Toreros lost the doubles point, but picked up wins on every court in singles play Thursday afternoon. The win improved their record to 6-6 overall.

Gemma Garcia, who played at the No. 5 position, continued on her winning streak when she defeated TXST's Chia 6-3, 7-5. Garcia improved to 12-10 and earned her fifth straight win in singles play.

Carolin Nonnenmacher was the first to earn a point for the Toreros when she toppled Fuchs on court six with a 6-0, 6-3 decision.

Kati Kukaras defeated Jones at the No. 4 spot, 6-3, 6-2.

Maria-Paula Torres downed Navajo on court three in the first three-set match of the day (6-1, 2-6, 6-2). Her win clinched the win for the Toreros with a 4-1 lead.

San Diego and Texas State played to completion, which earned the Toreros two bonus points.

Daniela Morales and Nicole Anderson went on to win their second matches of the day. The duo played together in doubles and defeated TXST duo Lewis and Jones 7-5. While their doubles win didn't add a point to the scoreboard, both put up points in singles.

Morales defeated Lewis 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at the No. 2 position while Anderson defeated Perez on court one 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Next week the Toreros play at Portland on Friday March 23 at 11:00 a.m.
