Toreros Grow Stronger

SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's basketball grew stronger with the additions of Aminata Dosso, Jordyn Edwards and Leticia Soares, as announced recently by head coach Cindy Fisher.

"We are thrilled to add three amazing individuals to our roster," said Fisher. "All three ladies are wonderful people inside and out. Working with these ladies every day is going to be such a wonderful experience for all of us."

Dosso is from France but joins the Toreros from Mission Hills, California, where she prepped at Bishop Alemany. Edwards played her first two years at Colorado State before transferring to the Toreros. Soares is from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but joins USD from Odessa Junior College in Texas.

The trio joins a talented Toreros team that was a game away from the NCAA Tournament, advancing to the WCC Tournament championship.

  • Earned second team All-Mission League honors
  • Led team to 19-11 record and the second round of the CIF Division-I Playoffs
  • Also competed in track
  • Interested in studying neuroscience at USD
  • Enjoys reading books, spending time with her friends, having dinner with her family and drawing

JORDYN "JOJO" EDWARDS

  • Attended Colorado State for the first two years of college
  • Redshirted her freshman year
  • Averaged 4.7 points per game, 1.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals during the 2017-18 season
  • Prepped at Lynnwood High School in Seattle, Washington, under head coach Everett Edwards
  • Two-time Adidas All-America selection (2014-15, 2015-16)
  • Helped lead Lynnwood to a state title in 2014-15
  • Averaged 11 points per game, 4 assists, 4 rebounds and 3.4 steals during her senior year of high school
  • Played club basketball for the Northwest Blazers Orange under head coach Steve Klees
  • Also competed on her high school's track and field team and won state titles in the 400 meter and 4 x 400 meter
  • Won district championships in the 400 meter three times (2013, 2015, 2016)
  • Won district championship in the 200 meter twice (2015, 2016)
  • Owns five of her high school's track and field records, including the long jump
  • Interested in studying psychology and counseling

At the time, it was very high on my list of universities to attend so now, I feel very blessed and excited to be a part of the women's basketball program as well as the chance to attend a highly respected university."

  • Has represented the Brazilian National Team at the 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship, 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and 2012 South America U15 Championship
  • Played two season at Odessa Junior College in Odessa, Texas, under head coach Ara Baten
  • Led team to a 23-11 record and the second round of the NJCAA DI Women's Championship in 2017-18
  • Averaged 9.5 points per game, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals in 2017-18
  • Interested in studying physical education and general studies
