SAN DIEGO – In less than one week, University of San Diego's annual day of giving returns as Torero Tuesday will take place on Oct. 13.
Alumni, parents, friends and Torero fans from all over the world will come together once again to raise funds that will enhance scholarships for the 430+ Torero scholar-athletes and provide direct support to the programs and overall vision of the athletic department of
Winning in the Classroom, Winning on the Playing Field, and Winning in the Community.
"Torero Tuesday is yet another opportunity for our USD alumni, parents, supporters and friends to make an impact on USD scholar-athletes," said Senior Associate Director of Athletics and Chief Development Officer
Marcy Lanoue. "Each gift made during this campaign will complement our on-going efforts to generate the necessary resources to enhance our programs. Whether you choose to give to our Most Critical Needs Fund, the Bernie Bickerstaff Diversity and Inclusion Fund or to one our teams, we greatly appreciate every gift."
The day of giving also provides funds for academic programs, scholarships and other campus initiatives.
Throughout the day, there will be several
challenges, such as timed challenges and ambassador challenges. USD Athletics will have its own "Raise the Bar Challenge," where each team that beats its alumni participation rate from last year will earn an additional $1,000 in bonus funds.
Participants in Torero Tuesday are encouraged to share their support on social media using #ToreroTuesday as USD looks to make the annual day of giving in 2020 the biggest one yet. There are also profile photos and other graphics to post on social media created by USD
here.

Why give on Torero Tuesday?
The annual day of giving for USD is an opportunity for all Toreros – whether they are alumni, family or friends – to come together and directly support the experience had by so many at the University of San Diego.
For USD Athletics, it is an opportunity for scholar-athlete alumni, family and fans to give back to current and future Toreros and play a part in providing an
Extraordinary Scholar-Athlete Experience where each individual is developed through personal, educational, physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
Testimonials from USD Athletics
"Torero Tuesday is yet another opportunity for our USD alumni, parents, supporters and friends make an impact on USD scholar-athletes. Each gift made during this campaign will complement our on-going efforts to generate the necessary resources to sustain and enhance our programs.
There are many ways in which you can support the Torero Scholar-Athlete Fund, in addition to investing in the sport of your choice, I want to point out two additional options that we would like those who believe in us most to consider. First, the Most Critical Needs Fund, which is unrestricted and allow us to the flexibility to direct these dollars directly back into our athletics program that is facing financial hardship due to the on-going pandemic. In addition, the newly established Bernie Bickerstaff Diversity and Inclusion Fund, named after a Torero Legend, will provide holistic support, education, leadership and advocacy training for Torero scholar-athletes, coaches and staff while also celebrating and empowering the USD Athletics community.
We thank you for your consideration, loyalty and support!"
Marcy Lanoue
Senior Associate Athletic Director, Chief Development Officer/Senior Woman Administrator (SWA)
"Torero Tuesday is an outstanding way for alumni, family, friends and fans to come together as a community to support our scholar-athletes and their athletic goals. I know I speak for everyone on the men's rowing staff and team when I say thank you for your generosity. We wouldn't be making the strides we are making without you."
