Sacchitt Sharrma saw plenty of action in his freshman year at USD. Playing in the singles lineup during the duals season, he stationed the No. 3 and 4 positions to help the Toreros get out to a strong start before the season was cut short. While he may have played throughout the year, here is more to know about Sacchitt as he works towards the end of year one and into his second-year on the San Diego campus.
What have you been doing since the season ended?
I have been studying and watching cricket and football a lot.
What has been your happiest moment so far at USD?
Winning my first career singles match against Washington
Being from India, what do you miss the most from home?
I miss my mom's food the most
How did you get involved with tennis?
I was always misbehaving as a kid, and I used to keep having fights at school, so my teacher asked my mom to put me into sports to release some energy. Tennis was the closest to home, so my mom enrolled me there.
Do you have a pre-match song you always listen to?
Yes. It's an Indian song called, "High Rated Gabru"
Any superstitions on the court?
I have a couple actually. I never step on the lines when not playing, and I step over the lines with my right leg first. Second, I always use the ball I won the point with and never use it more than twice.
Outside of tennis, what are your hobbies?
Listening music and watching cricket, football, and soccer
Favorite sport to play other than tennis?
Cricket
What is your go to meal to cook?
Dal, Roti and a vegetable. It's a simple North Indian dish.
Which teammate makes you laugh the most?
Gui Osorio
Who is the best/worst roommate on trips and why?
I haven't had many trips yet, but the best would be Joel (Gamerov) because he's clean and very quiet.
Who is the best dancer on the team?
Me, for sure. My Bollywood moves beat all
What's one thing Coach Keckley says a lot?
"This is gonna be a fight boys!"

If you won $1 million, what would you do with that money?
I would build a house with a tennis and a football pitch. It would have all the luxuries.
What does being a student-athlete at USD mean to you?
It's an honor to be here. Not everyone has the opportunity to be where I am.
What do you love about USD and the tennis team?
I love the city and my teammates.
